FAQ

Medicare questions, answered

Is there a cost to talk with an agent?

No. Our service is free to you, and there’s no obligation to enroll in a plan.

Are you part of Medicare or the government?

No. Best Advantage Plans is a privately owned company and is not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program. For information on all of your options, contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE (TTY 1-877-486-2048).

Do you offer every plan in my area?

No. We do not offer every plan available in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.

When can I enroll in or change my Medicare plan?

Most people can make changes during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7. You may also qualify for other enrollment periods, such as your Initial Enrollment Period or a Special Enrollment Period.

What happens after I reach out?

We’ll connect you with a licensed insurance agent in your area. Your agent will answer your questions and go over any plan details with you.

What’s the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement?

Medicare Advantage is a way to get your Part A and Part B coverage through a private plan, often with a network of providers. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare. You can’t use both at the same time.

Is “Plan C” the same as “Part C”?

No. Part C is Medicare Advantage. Plan C is one of the lettered Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans, and it’s only available to people who were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020.

Do I have to enroll in a plan if I call?

No. Talking with an agent doesn’t obligate you to enroll in anything.

Can I keep my doctors?

It depends on the coverage you choose. A licensed insurance agent can go over this with you.

What is a Scope of Appointment?

Before discussing specific plans, your agent will confirm which types of coverage you want to talk about, such as Medicare Advantage or Part D. It doesn’t commit you to anything.

Will my information be shared?

We use your information to respond to your request. If you give consent on our form, a licensed insurance agent or one of our marketing partners may contact you. You can opt out at any time through our support form. See our Privacy Policy and Marketing Partners pages for details.

I missed my enrollment window. What can I do?

You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. If you missed signing up for Part A or Part B, you can sign up during the General Enrollment Period, January 1 to March 31. Late enrollment penalties may apply.
